Ferrets love any container full of items that crunch, rattle, bounce or crackle. Case in point: my wastepaper bin full of crumpled up paper is just about the most wonderfully interesting thing on earth for Pig Warrior Ferret.
Pig checks my paper bin daily for updated material, like new pieces of paper thrown on top (yes, she knows), or joy bits of plastic. If there is any plastic in the bin, that’s a huge bonus for Pig because she thinks it makes a great snack. Therefore, I have to always remember to only put paper in there.
She climbs up the side, aided by the mesh holes. At first she doesn’t go all the way in but rather hooks her hind feet in the holes and lowers her head down in to investigate. After one or two seconds of pre-checking, she slides in and starts lolling about in the papers. She writhes around in a kind of ferret ecstasy state, rubbing the papers on her back, face and head. If you can imagine a corny movie where someone wins the lottery or otherwise comes into a big windfall and then rolls around in the cash money, well that’s Pig in her paper bin.
